Allen Neal Jones (born June 2, 1977) is an American
professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the Raw
brand under the ring name AJ Styles (also stylized as A.J. Styles). He had wrestle all around the world for 22 years and found success in every promotion he had been. As given the nickname "The Phenomenal One", he won every championship in every promotion. Well, that's phenomenal.
Jones has been married to school teacher Wendy since 2000.
They have three sons, Ajay Covell Jones (born May 3, 2005), Avery Jones (born
February 14, 2007), and Albey Jones (born September 15, 2009), and a daughter,
Anney Jones (born October 8, 2014). Their first son's middle name was taken
from the last name of Jones' best friend and fellow wrestler Christopher
Daniels, whose real name is Daniel Covell. In 2010, Jones acquired a large
tattoo down the right side of his torso which reads "AJ 05-03-05 02-14-07
09-15-09", representing his initials and birth dates of his first three
children. In 2016, he added the birth date of his fourth child, reading
"10-08-14". The family lives in Gainesville, Georgia.
Jones is a fan of video games (specifically retro games from
the 1980s and 1990s). He is also an internet streamer. He had been in the cover
of one of the best wrestling games, WWE 2k19. Styles took questions from the
media and talked about how this is a really big deal to him. He learned of the
cover role 2-3 weeks ago and says it's a real honour to be on the cover because
he's a gamer. AJ talked about how he wants the gamers to see him as one of them
and how being on the cover of the WWE video game has been a goal of his. AJ
called it a huge accomplishment. He regularly streams games under the name
'STYLESCLASH' on Mixer. He currently has over 16 000 followers.
“As a hardcore gamer and ambassador of everything it means to ‘Never Say Never’ in both my professional and personal life, it is a dream come true to be selected as the WWE 2K19 cover Superstar,” he said.
Mention before, he had wrestled for twenty-two phenomenal years
all over the world and still counting. Long regarded as one of the world's best
professional wrestlers, Styles has headlined numerous pay-per-view events
internationally. Styles debuted in 1998 and competed for various independent
promotions, before gaining his first mainstream exposure in World Championship
Wrestling (WCW) in 2001. From 2002 to 2014, he became widely known for his
tenure in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), who described him as "the
cornerstone of the company since the inception in 2002". Within that
organization, Styles held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship three times
and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship twice, and was the inaugural
titleholder of the X Division Championship, which he won six times. Styles is
the first professional wrestler to complete the TNA Triple Crown (five times)
and the TNA Grand Slam (two times).
In 2010, Styles became the first TNA-contracted wrestler to
be ranked number one on the annual Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) PWI 500
list. He simultaneously appeared in Ring of Honor (ROH) from 2002–2006, where
he became the inaugural ROH Pure Champion. In 2014, Styles signed with New
Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and won his first of two IWGP Heavyweight
Championships in his debut match, later becoming the third leader of the Bullet
Club stable. Styles has also won various titles on international independent
circuits, including the PWG World Championship.
One of his best match in his whole career is AJ Styles Vs
Shinsuke Nakamura At NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 10. This match undeniably the best
match I’ve ever seen. Quite simply, AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura had
everything. Action, storytelling, showmanship, even a lasting sense of
significance. As it would be either man’s final New Japan Pro Wrestling match
before jumping to WWE. Fortunately, for them soon to be former employees, the
pair saved the best for last.
The fact that this bout is remembered so fondly, despite
occurring immediately before the Match of the Year between Okada and Tanahashi
– speaks volumes. Yes, both men used their expertise to craft a wonderful
sequence of events, but the little things helped bring it to life. From
Nakamura catching AJ’s imaginary bullet (and eating it) to the fist-bump after
the final bell, this bout was an early sign that Styles wasn’t just going to do
fine at his new home. Countless good workers have found some WWE success, but
here AJ. proved that he had grown into a masterful storyteller, and a wrestler
destined for much more.
Styles first appeared in WWE (then the World Wrestling Federation) in 2002 a try-out basis but turned down a developmental contract he was offered with the company. He signed a multi-year contract with WWE fourteen years later in January 2016, making his full-time debut that month and going on to win the WWE Championship in September.
Both PWI and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON) voted
him Wrestler of the Year for 2016 and in 2017 he was inducted into the WON Hall
of Fame. With his second WWE Championship victory in Manchester, England in
November 2017, Styles was recognized by WWE as the first wrestler to win the
title outside of North America. At 371 days, this reign is the longest in
SmackDown history under the current brand extension, shattering the previous
record of 280 days held by John Bradshaw Layfield from 2004–2005. The reign is
also recognized as the eighth-longest overall (tied with Randy Savage's
1988–1989 reign). In addition, Styles is also a three-time WWE United States
Champion.
My final thought is absolutely no one can deny Styles’
ability. Known the world over for his in-ring prowess, thrilling aerial
maneuvers and supreme confidence, Styles has found success everywhere he’s
traveled. He's accumulated an incredibly impressive résumé, capped off by
sports-entertainment's most prestigious title, the WWE Championship, which he's
captured twice and held for an astonishing 371 days in his second reign. Other than
that, he had a lot of they say that Styles could wrestle a broomstick and still
the match would earn a five-star rating. I suggest watching some of his TNA era
matches against Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode and Christopher Daniels. Also, NJPW
against Shinsuke Nakamura and Okada. Considering now that he is currently 42 years old, his
athleticism is still unbelievable doing high flying moves and maintaining a
high work rate. He is no doubt, Phenomenal.
